Mr. Clifton Earl (Bill) Dail, 91, passed away at his home in Ayden on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Evergreen Memorial Estates Mausoleum at 2 pm.
Bill served for 20 years, 1952 to 1972, in the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a disabled veteran from the Vietnam War, but he did not consider himself disabled. He earned three Purple Heart awards and a Good Conduct medal while in Vietnam. Although Bill was disabled, you couldn't tell him that, as he mowed his own lawn, washed his own clothes and cooked his own meals. He even built his own wheel chair ramp. He was a very unique, down to earth person who lived a simple lifestyle. Bill was a loyal and generous person and loved helping others. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Spades.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Estell Dail; wife, Muriel Baker Johnson, wife, Anna Maria, wife Dorothy Marie and wife, Kea Dail; daughter, Sharon Ann Dail; sons, Johnny Earl Dail, and David Wayne Dail and wife, Rosemary; grandson, David Dail; and brother, John Ira (Pete) Dail and wife, Mary Francis.
He is survived by his sons, Robin Lee Dail and wife, Heather and Michael Dail and wife, Missy; stepson, Gene Auxter; brother, Jessie Dail and wife, Robin; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
