Clinton J Arnold Jr. (94) passed away on November 5, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Clint was the son of Helen E (Ryan) Arnold and Clinton J Arnold Sr., born on August 27, 1931 in Danville, NH, above an old country store. He attended the Eaton School in Danville, followed by Sanborn Seminary in Kingston where he met his future wife, Carol. He graduated with the class of 1954 and participated in alumni reunions and Kingston Pizza alumni luncheons up until this Spring.
Clint's high school years were interrupted to enlist in the U. S. Army, where he served in the Korean War as a Combat Medic and an MP at a POW Camp. He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. In addition he earned a Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Clint proudly wore his Purple Heart cap which won him many free lunches from thankful restaurant patrons. He often wore his medaled Army jacket to local Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades.
In August of 1954 Clint married Carol and they purchased their first home on Colby Road (aka "up the acre") in Danville where deer drank from the brook that ran through their yard. In the winter months Clint would hike thru the woods behind the house to ice fish on Mill Pond.
When the arrival of their third child was imminent, Carol and Clint built a new home on Pine Street in Danville, where they raised their family and would live for the rest of their lives. Countless yard sales were held at that address.
Clint enjoyed vacation roadtrips with his family during their early years. They traveled all over New England, parts of Canada and up and down the East Coast. He especially loved the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
During the 1960s Clint founded the Danville Little League and was their respected role model and coach for many years.
Clint also served as a member of the Danville Volunteer Police Department in the 1970s. Though crime was minimal in those days, he was always excited to slap the blue light on the car roof and speed away when duty called.
Clint enjoyed a long career at Western Electric/AT&T in Production Service. During those years he was an active member of the WE Valley Camping Club and the men's softball team.
He also worked a second job for several years in the evenings at both W. T. Grant and Mal's department stores in Haverhill, MA to help support his family. This included a stint as the store Santa Claus at Mal's.
An offer of an early retirement package from AT&T in the early 1980s allowed Clint, along with Carol, to launch the Arnolds Auctions auctioneering business. For many years he held heavily attended country style auctions at the Fire Association Hall in Danville and other venues in the surrounding area. He also sold antiques and collectibles at flea markets and yard sales for decades. Clint set up at the Arundel Flea Market for the last time at the age of 93.
Following retirement Carol and Clint spent winters in the Port Richey, FL area.
Clint is survived by his children Judith Arnold, Thomas Arnold, and Sharon Reynolds (Ron); his grandchildren Michael Reynolds (Liza), Brian Arnold, Marissa Arnold, and Jason Reynolds (Robin); nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; his brother Nelson Arnold (Barbara); and close family friend Bob Roberts. Clint was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of seventy years, Carol; sister Marjorie Tilden (Edward); sister Beatrice Hunt (John); brother Edward Arnold (Mary).
