Ronald Arthur Chaisson, fondly known to his loved ones as "Ron or "Ronnie" age 70, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth, NH, after a period of declining health.
He was born on September 27, 1955, in Weymouth, MA, son of the late Wilbert J. Chaisson and Dorothy P. (Flynn) Chaisson.
Ron grew up in Groveland, MA, where he lived for most of his life. He spent many summers at Camp Seahaven on Plum Island. One of four children, he was a proud graduate of Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill MA, Class of 1976.
In 2006, he moved to Newmarket NH with his mother and brother Jerry, where they settled to be closer to family in NH. Ron loved the Seacoast area. He enjoyed his many walks around the campus on UNH, then would hop a bus to walk around downtown Portsmouth. He also loved spending time at Hampton Beach, playing in the arcades, and enjoying some of his favorite seafood at the Sea Ketch. Ron loved music, so course he would be checking the Casino Ballroom to see who might be playing, and many times, it didn't matter who was playing, Ron just bought a ticket to enjoy the show. He also loved going on deep sea fishing excursions, and took rides on the Thomas Leighton to Star Island.
A devoted Boston sports fan, Ron loved cheering on the Red Sox and Bruins. He often attended games in Boston, carefully and proudly organizing his own travel to and from the city. He knew bus schedules better than anybody, and used them to get where he wanted to go, never asking for rides, just figuring out how he could get from point A to point B.
Ron lived his life with quiet strength, perseverance, and an unwavering spirit. Despite the physical challenges he faced, he never allowed them to define him. He took great pride in his independence, and approached life with patience and determination. He also had a great sense of wit and humor, and could make us all laugh.
Professionally, Ron worked for many years as a dishwasher at the two Friendly's locations in Haverhill, a job he deeply valued and performed with dedication.
Family meant everything to Ron, and he shared a close bond with his brother Jerry, sister Sandy, and brother in law Rick. Together, along with extended family, they made countless memories, including many cruises with filled with the best of times and, of course, Ron's favorite part - enjoying the endless food options.
A particularly special trip filled with so many laughs and smiles on Ron's face was a trip to Disneyworld. He loved every second of that day, from interacting with the characters, to the rides, and of course, the food. Ron had a kind and gentle heart, especially when it came to animals, and always had a beloved cat by his side.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia A. Chaisson.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald Chaisson; his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Richard Murphy Jr., nephew, Richard Murphy and his wife, Brigid; nieces, Patricia Finnemore and her husband, Matthew, Shannon Horan and her husband, Ethan, and Colleen Murphy and her fiancé, Andrew McElroy, a cousin, Debra McDonald and her husband, Kevin, one great-nephew, and three great-nieces.
