Clorinda L. Nuñez, age 88 passed away on June 12, 2024, peacefully in her Albuquerque home. She was born on July 20th, 1935, in Los Ojos, NM to Antonio A. and Ana Maria (Abeyta) Martinez.
Clorinda lived her first 8 years in Los Ojos, NM until moving to Cañones. She graduated class of '55 from Chama High School where she was a council representative, school reporter, choir member and played the trumpet in band. After graduating, she became the secretary for both the grade school and high school for the next 8 years. From there, she worked as the administrator for The Chama Cotton Butane Co. until she got married.
Clorinda was married to Ramon R. Nuñez (deceased) in 1972 and had one son, John Jerome Nuñez. In addition, she also has stepchildren: Alfredo Nuñez (deceased), Angela Dike, (husband Walter Dike) and Raymond Nuñez. She also has several step grandchildren: Michelle, Ian, Veronica, Gwendoyln, Eric, and Nick.
Clorinda was proceeded in death by her husband Ramon Nuñez, parents Antonio and AnaMaria Martinez, brother Lorenzo Martinez (Betty – wife), Robert Martinez (Ida-wife), Donald Martinez, Leroy Martinez.
Clorinda is survived by her son Jerome Nuñez (Aaron Zavala Nuñez-husband), brother Delfin Martinez (Rosie-wife) of Questa, NM, sister-in-law Terry Martinez of California, and sister-in-law Antonia Martinez of Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church located at:
