Clyde H. Babbitt

Clyde H. Babbitt, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Boston Medical Center South. He was the beloved son of the late Frank G. and Mattie L. (Wellman) Babbitt.
Born on May 18, 1941, in Boston, Clyde attended Foxboro High School and went on to work at Rea-Craft Press before beginning his career with the Foxborough Fire Department. He served his community with dedication and quiet courage for many years, retiring in 1994. Following his retirement, Clyde continued to serve the town as the first custodian at the Foxboro Senior Center, where he took pride in helping maintain a welcoming space for the community. He was also passionate about giving time to work at the food pantry.
Clyde was married to his late wife, Elizabeth "Ellen" (McAuliffe) Babbitt, with whom he shared forty-six years of marriage. He loved Ellen deeply and cherished the life they built together, marked by mutual devotion and simple joys.
He enjoyed taking walks in the woods and exploring, especially when his children were young. He also loved spending time on Cape Cod, where the salt air, a scenic drive, and the search for the perfect scallop were among his favorite pleasures. A devoted New England Patriots fan, he rarely missed a game and took pride in cheering for his hometown team.
He is survived by his son John Babbitt and his wife Krysten, and John's children Kayla Babbitt and James Pickering Jr.; his daughter Anne Marie Babbitt of New Hampshire; and his son Timothy Babbitt and his family. He was the brother of the late John, Dorothy, and Gladys.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, November 7, at 10:00 AM at Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxborough.
