Clyde Lee Clause Sr., 95, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. Born in Benson Junction, Florida, to Zana Marjorie Lee and Alva G. Clause, Clyde lived a life marked by devotion-to his family, his country, his faith, and his community. A proud graduate of Wildwood High School, Class of 1948, Clyde went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy for four years. After his military service, he spent 48 years working on the railroad-a career defined by hard work, dedication, and pride. Clyde was a 62-year member of the Wildwood Masonic Lodge, where he earned the distinguished rank of 32nd Degree Mason. He also served as Grand Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and Page 1 In Loving Memory of Clyde Lee Clause Sr. was an active Shriner. His life was shaped by strong principles and a deep Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Jane Clause; his son, Clyde Lee Clause Jr.; and his sister, Hazel Moses. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Barnes and Zana (Nolan) Raybon; his daughter-in-love, Lynn (wife of Clyde Jr.); and his sister, Jean Poe. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Christa (Scott) Hedberg, Connie (Scott) Hoover, Jordan (Brian) Mitchell, Ryan Barnes (Brett Dady), Rachel Conliffe, Matt (Jessica) Barnes, Stephen Conliffe, Jesse (M'Lynn) Conliffe, and Austin Kennedy; 14 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. An avid hunter and fisherman, Clyde found great joy in the outdoors and cherished time spent with family. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and warm sense of humor. A celebration of Clyde's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares. A celebration of Clyde's life will be held on Wednesday, May 14th at 11:00 AM at Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg, Florida, followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Leesburg, Florida.
