Clyde Anthony King received his wings on August 28, 2025. He was the sixth of eight children born to Jimmy and Buelah Lewis King on March 15, 1960, in Cuero, Texas. He attended school in the Austin Public School District.
Clyde accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. F. C. Ransom, at the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
He joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He was stationed at Fort Gordan in Augusta, Georgia.
Clyde was affectionately known as "Pop" or "Poppa" by his family and friends. His calm, relaxed nature resonated with everyone he met. He could defuse tense situations with his wit or humor. He was an attentive listener and kept information from private conversations confidential.
Clyde worked as a cook at Dobie Center and was employed for many years in housekeeping at The Austin Marriot Downtown. He loved cooking for the family during holiday celebrations. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Texas Longhorns football games.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: His beloved mother, Buelah Lewis King. Siblings: Gwendolyn Seay, Kenneth King (Charlene), Jo Fern Lightner, Maurice King (Marcia), Barbara Montgomery (Alex). He leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Clyde is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy King Sr., Brothers, Jimmy King Jr., and Marvin King Sr.
