On Friday, September 26, 2025, we said farewell to our charismatic and compassionate hero, Andre Aldus Gladney, fondly known as Dre, a man whose extraordinary love for people and life left an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on December 10, 1956, in Kenosha, WI, Andre was a beacon of light who ushered warmth, joy, and love into every life he touched. Beyond his captivating charm, Andre had an unparalleled love for helping those in need, a testament to his innate compassion and untamed generosity.
Andre was a man of many talents. His professional life was marked by a stellar career in the construction industry, where he retired as a Construction Superintendent from ASD Consultants, Inc. in Austin, Texas. He wore his retirement title just long enough to start a second venture, AJs Cooking Connection, a catering business that served events all over the Travis County area. His love for cooking, especially his famous BBQ was a delight to all who tasted it. Andre's talents were not confined to the kitchen or the construction site, as he also had a knack for traveling, exploring new cultures, and sharing his experiences. As Mother Teresa once said, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." Andre lived by this philosophy, leaving a trail of happiness wherever he ventured.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Church of Christ at Eastside. Andre's loving spirit is carried on by his surviving siblings, Valrie Gladney, Burnett Gladney, and Alphonsus Gladney. In his passing, Andre joins his father Aldus Gladney, his mother Jane Gladney, his beloved wife Alma Gladney, his sister Rosalyn Gladney-Colley, and his sister-in-law Mary Gladney.
The beauty of Andre's life will forever be cherished and remembered. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us celebrate his compassionate, loving, and talented soul. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Andre to the memorial page. In doing so, we can all pay tribute to a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will shine brightly in our hearts forever.
