Clyde Mize Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 3, 2026.
Clyde Martin Mize II (Marty) age 71, passed away at his home in Chattanooga Tennessee, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Marty was born March 5, 1954. Marty was of the Baptist Faith and knew his eternal home would be with His Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Mize and Ethel Blevins Mize of Oak Hill Tennessee.

Marty was born and raised in Dayton, Tennessee. He joined the Air Force in 1973. After the Air Force, Marty was either building a house or driving a truck. Both of which he enjoyed, and he was a very talented builder.

Marty met Elizabeth Brown {Libby}, in 1973 and they married in 1974. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. They have two sons, Joshua Martin (Debby) and Toby Tyler (Lindsey}. Marty, also known as Poppy, leaves behind five grandchildren, Mason, Skyler, Kinleigh, Jensen and Anslee. He is also survived by a sister Shirley Travis of Dayton. He adored them all!

Marty learned to build by helping and working with his father. This talent kept him busy throughout the years. Marty also enjoyed old trucks, and his boys are currently rebuilding Marty's favorite truck. He was so proud. Marty also spent many weekends camping and skiing at Watts Bar Lake. Precious time spent with his wife and their families. Marty developed a love of fishing as a young child, which carried him throughout his life. His fishing adventures started with his Grandpa Mize taking him to Cotton Port.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 6PM in the chapel.

Marty will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His kindness, generosity and sense of humor will be remembered by all he came in contact with. Knowing Marty means you know true kindness and love.
