Elizabeth Ann Mize

Elizabeth Ann Cheek Mize, a cherished pillar of the East Ridge community, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2026, in the same city where she first graced the world with her presence on April 12, 1943. Born to Clyde and Betty Daverson Cheek, Ann, known for her adventurous spirit, lived a life marked by selfless devotion to people in need.

A proud graduate of East Ridge High School in 1961, Ann's youthful exuberance was showcased through her talent as a Fire Baton Majorette, a role that hinted at the fiery passion she would carry throughout her life. Her journey was shared with her beloved husband, Erbie Gail Mize, who predeceased her, as did her son, William C. Mize, her parents, and her sister, Nancy DeFriese.

Ann's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner and operator of ACM Rentals, where she applied her remarkable handiness and resourcefulness. Her work not only provided for her family but also contributed significantly to the community she held dear.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in her daughter, Lisa (Gary) Mize Tester; her brothers, Floyd and Glenn Cheek; her adored grandchildren, Abigail (Erika) Hughes, Emma Tester, Tessa Mize Munroe, and William Mize; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kira Allen, Vincent Allen, Henry Farmer, and Gail Munroe. Each of them will carry forward her spirit of adventure, her knack for fixing and building, and her boundless capacity for giving.

Ann's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, faith, and family. Those who knew her will remember her as the matriarch who could fix a leaky faucet, join her husband on a business trip, and offer a shoulder to lean on. Her adventurous tales, selfless acts, and the melodies she played will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

As we bid farewell to Elizabeth Ann Cheek Mize, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the light of her presence always illuminated the paths of those around her. Though she has left our sight, the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her embrace will remain with us always.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 27, 2026, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ann's family would like to express their appreciation for her excellent caregivers.
