Clyde Everett Vandergriff, born on February 1, 1936, in Mineral Point, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the age of 89. He was the beloved son of the late Oscar Vandergriff and Annie (Rook) Vandergriff, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and dedication.

Clyde was a devoted father to his three children: Barry Vandergriff, and his wife Janiece; Anola Vandergriff; and Anita Harmon. He found immense pride and joy in being a grandfather to five grandchildren: Jeremy Harmon and Angel DeClue; Matthew Vandergriff, and his wife Cena; Heather Vandergriff and Jeff Jackson; and Ashley Clapp and Eric Ruble. His family continued to grow, and he was a beloved great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren: Aubree, Tyler, Rilee, Kimberlee, Colton, Shiann, and Taylor. Clyde is also survived by four siblings: Joan Huff; Kenny Vandergriff, and his wife Alice; Roger Vandergriff, and his wife Rhonda; and Brenda Vandergriff. Furthermore, he is remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who cherished him dearly. In addition to his father and mother, Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife Elva (Warden) Vandergriff; two grandchildren: Steven Fitzwater and Lacey Clapp; his brother Milford Vandergriff and an infant brother.

Throughout his life, Clyde took great pleasure in a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed deer hunting and yet he found peacefulness in watching the deer that frequented his backyard. He loved nature and spent countless hours feeding the hummingbirds. Clyde also took great pride in cultivating his vegetable garden and was also known for his talent in working on cars, and was often seen on his tractor engaged in projects around his property. His yard was a testament to his dedication, always kept in immaculate condition. Clyde was a fan of Cardinals Baseball and wrestling. Clyde’s true joy came from the time he spent with his family. Whether it was sharing stories, cheering on his favorite teams, or celebrating milestones, being surrounded by loved ones was what mattered most to him.

Clyde’s viewing will be held at DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
