Command Master Chief (Ret.) Benny Marion Le Bon transferred for the last time on October 24th, 2023. Benny was born in De Ridder LA, on September 19th, 1942, to Charles and Barley Le Bon. From De Ridder, he moved to Baltimore, MD.
He joined the Navy in 1960 at the age of 17, and did boot camp training at Great Lakes IL. From there, he transferred to Kingsville, TX, where he met his wife, Dolores. His duty stations included, Mississippi, Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee, Washington DC, Maryland, and ending in Norfolk, VA. Benny quickly rose to the rank of Command Master Chief.
After 23 years in the Navy, he retired and began his second career in real estate where he excelled at Goodman Seager Hogan, William E Wood & Associates, Long and Foster Real Estate, Coldwell Banker Gifford Reality, and finishing at Abrams Realty.
He loved to play golf, chess, poker, to fish, and was a runner completing 6 marathons. He also found time to earn a bachelor's degree from Saint Leo's University. He tried his hand at stage acting, and, during his midlife crisis, ran with the bulls in Spain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, his parents, his brother Charles, His sisters Pat, Bobby Sue, and Dorothea.
Benny is survived by his children Benny, Lolita, and Eddie, grandchildren Sasha, Benny, Maria, and Jordan, a great-granddaughter, Selena, his brothers, Timmy, Ricky, and George, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive Chapel, Norfolk, VA on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 12 noon. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the funeral service at the same location.
