Russell Wayne Harp, of Moyock, North Carolina, passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on August 4, 1950, in Virginia, he lived a life marked by service, dedication to his work, and enjoyment of the games he loved.

In 1970, Wayne answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. During his four years of service, he worked as an air traffic controller-a role that required precision, calm under pressure, and unwavering focus. His time in the military was a formative chapter in his life and one that reflected his commitment to duty and discipline.

Following his honorable service in the Air Force, Wayne built a career in the pest control industry. Through hard work and perseverance, he established himself as a reliable professional in his field. His career was a testament to his strong work ethic and practical skills.

Wayne also found joy and camaraderie through his hobbies. He was an avid billiards player who enjoyed the strategy and finesse of the game. He spent many hours on the golf course as well, appreciating both the challenge of the sport and the peacefulness it offered. Poker was another favorite pastime-one that combined his love for competition with sharp thinking and good company.

Wayne's legacy continues through his family. He is survived by his son, Matthew Wayne Harp; daughter-in-law, Dolly Little Harp; two grandchildren,Taylor Reed Harp and Logan Wayne Harp; and two great grandchildren Krew and Navy; as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends. Each carries forward a part of him in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell P. Harp; mother, Lena W. Harp; brother, Thomas Harp; sister, Anne Auchenbach; and sister, Dawn Filek.

Wayne's life will be remembered with respect and affection by those who knew him-from family members to friends who shared a game or conversation with him over the years.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Graham Funeral Home & Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA, 23320 with a reception following the service.
