Margaret Colleen Baker Hargrove, age 95, cherished wife of the late Thomas F. Hargrove, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her residence in Santa Fe, Tennessee.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Sue Miller officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Goshen United Methodist Church Cemetery with Ed Miller and Steve Blackwell officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on December 1, 1929, in Maury County, Tennessee, Colleen was the daughter of the late Benton H. Baker and the late Mary L. Archer Baker. She was a 1947 graduate of Santa Fe High School and married the love of her life, Thomas F. Hargrove on June 26, 1948. They were married seventy-two years before his passing on May 25, 2020. They lived in Louisville, Kentucky for many years. She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education in Louisville, Kentucky, twenty-five years before returning back to Tennessee.
Colleen’s life centered around family-- especially her beloved husband and best friend, her sons, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mee Mee.” She was an active member of Goshen United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School over fifty years in Kentucky and Tennessee. She had a passion for gardening and found great joy in tending to her flowers, especially her roses.
She is survived by her two sons, Joe (Debbie) Hargrove of Santa Fe, TN, Dennis (Carol) Hargrove of Columbia, KY, grandchildren, Heather Campbell of Santa Fe, TN, Bradley (Lindsay) Hargrove of Santa Fe, TN, Brent (Libby) Hargrove of Santa Fe, Stacy (Carl) Kuhn of Georgetown, KY, Brian (Brandy) Hargrove of Columbia, KY, great grandchildren, Nicholas Campbell, Benton Hargrove, Lily Hargrove, Jackson Hargrove, Brayleigh Hargrove, Bralynn Hargrove, Abby Gunter, Wyatt Gunter, Brianna Gunter, and Natalie Gunter, and sister, Gaye Peach of Santa Fe, TN.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Baker, Randall Baker, Roger Baker, infant brother, Jerry Baker, and sisters, Thelma Howlett, Esta Holt, Evelyn Baker, and Maxine Lockhart.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Hargrove, Brent Hargrove, Wyatt Gunter, Nicholas Campbell, Marty Lockhart, Larry Baker, Jason Campbell, and Benton Hargrove.
