Colleen Grace "Curly" Wertz
Age 67, of Breckenridge, passed away Monday September 15, 2025.
Colleen was born on February 8, 1958, in Saginaw, the daughter of Albert and Grace (O'Toole) Dean. She graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1976. Colleen married Tim Wertz.
Colleen was lovingly known as "Curly" by her siblings, a nickname that perfectly captured her fun and easy spirit. She loved watching and cheering on the Detroit Tigers, as well as sharing simple moments with the people she loved. Her career was spent caring for others in nursing homes, while her time away from work was spent enjoying life with her loved ones. Her greatest joy came from time with her family. Whether at work or at home, Colleen filled every day with love, laughter, and the simple happiness of time spent with those she held dear.
She is survived by her daughter Heather (Nick) Hussein, grandchildren Mercedes, Samira, Nizi, Malik, granddogs Dewey, Darla, siblings Ann (Chet) Gensch, Ed (Deb) Dean, June (Mike) Pentrich, Mary (Dan) DeRosia, Linda (Bob) Anguiano, Bill (Linda) Dean, Tom (Patti) Dean, Nick (Marie) Dean, Bernie (Jill) Dean, Debbie (Russ) Willett, and many nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Gary and Bob Dean.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12 pm at the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery at a later date.
