CONCHITA ROBLES AIVAZIAN

It is with great sadness to inform our Paniquenian Community about the passing of our dear
Sister-in Christ- Conchita "Connie, Conching" Robles Aivazian at 89 years of age in John Muir Hospital, Concord on December 4, 2021.
Pre-deceased by her parents- Mariano and Lucia Robles; Brothers-Bienvenido Robles, Eliodoro Robles,
and sister Filipina Robles-Lamorena; Son- Reynaldo Robles Guzman.
Conchita is survived by her husband, Theodore, her daughters Susan Balisi, Corazon Pasco and Ruby
Guzman and Son, Benjamin Guzman. She is likewise survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Conchita Robles Aivazian has dedicated her life to the progression of education among students and educators. From becoming one of the leading pioneers in the development of the First Filipino Bilingual Class in the United States at Treasure Island to helping reform the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) for future students of ethnic studies, Conchita has performed her work efficiently, effectively, punctually and professionally.
Through her patience, hard work and professionalism, she was able to overcome racial diversity and negative reactions as her teaching methods were put on display as the explanative example of a model classroom for future multi-lingual classes.
Conchita helped develop the Filipino Bilingual Education Program for Language, Arts (Reading) from kindergarten -5th grade. This program provided Filipino bilingual students equal access to education. In addition, she provided in-service training/workshops and seminars for teachers and para-professionals at various school sites in California. She also assisted teachers in the development of Science and Social Studies curriculum in Filipino as well as becoming the acting liaison officer between school sites and the bilingual department in all issues affecting bilingual students. This allowed her to assist writing proposals for special funded programs and the study on Federal and State Legislation probative of the best interests of the Filipino-American Community:

San Francisco State University – Master of Arts in Educational Administration- 1992.
University of San Francisco- Master of Arts in Education Sp. Bilingual Counseling-1982
University of San Francisco- Master of Arts in Education Sp. Bilingual Specialist-1977.
