Conley Reed Stucki, age 87, passed away in Layton, Utah on October 23, 2024, of natural causes. He was born May 3, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the 11th child to Jacob Stucki and Mary Anna Butikofer. He grew up on a farm in the community of Coltman, 8 miles north of Idaho Falls.

At an early age Conley worked with his dad and his brothers on the family farm. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1955. He enjoyed fixing machinery, so after high school, he attended 1 year at the trade school at Idaho State College (University), in Pocatello, Idaho, where he learned more about auto mechanics and repair of farm machinery. He loved to fly so he took flying lessons and earned his pilot’s license.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he accepted a call to serve a mission. He served for 30 months in Switzerland, the land of his ancestry. After his mission, he met Beverly Brown, from Rexburg, on a blind date and after 1 year of courting they were married on August 10, 1961, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.

Conley and Beverly built a small home in Coltman and Conley took over operation of his fathers 80-acre farm. They became the parents of six beautiful children, four boys and two girls: Bret, Wesley, Kaylene, Dwight, Scott and Shauna.

In the fall of 1965 Conley decided to quit farming and went back to school at Ricks College. He later transferred to Utah State University in Logan Utah, and received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Arts and Mechanical Education. He then moved his family back to Coltman. He was hired at Rigby High School to teach welding, small engines, and drafting and also was a drivers education instructor. He also took on responsibility as part time sexton of the Grant Central Cemetery, located in Jefferson County. He served as sexton for 30 years.

After teaching at Rigby High School for 9 years, he went to work for the LDS Church as a maintenance/mechanical supervisor with the Idaho Falls Facilities Management Group. For 23 years, he helped repair and maintain several church houses in Idaho Falls, until his retirement at age 64.

As an active member of the LDS church he served in various callings including, Bishop of the Coltman 2nd Ward for 5 1/2 years. He enjoyed the youth of the ward and went on many outings and camps with the scouts and young women groups. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed taking them on vacation trips, fishing, camping, hiking, and skiing. He appreciated the beauty of nature and always had a well-groomed yard.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, son Wesley (Shelly), son Scott (Kellie), daughter Shauna Taylor (Doug), 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 10 siblings, a son Bret (Tammy), a daughter Kaylene Richardson (Randy), an infant son Dwight, and a grandson Joshua Cameron.
