Connie Ann DiPrimio was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 22, 1944 to parents John (Johnnie) DiPrimio and Conchetta Miele-DiPrimio.
She spent her childhood and adolescence in North East Philadelphia and graduated from Murrell Dobbins Technical High School in 1963. Connie was married in her early 20's and raised her two beautiful children, Steven Joseph and Jacqueline Anastasia, as a single mother after her separation. Connie worked as a hair dresser, and her skill was much sought after by the ladies in her community.
Connie raised her two children in lovely Bucks County, PA. Connie's entrepreneurial spirit kept her kids housed, fed, clothed and educated through college and she lived boldly as a single woman in the 1970's, 80's and 90's when this was not the norm. After her children 'left the nest', Connie met John DePalma in 1999 at a single's dance in New Hope, PA. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage in 2000 and Connie and John moved together to Ocean View, DE, where they started their shared life in their forever home by the beach.
In her later life in Ocean View, she was a valued mentor at Frankford Elementary School, where she taught reading to children learning English as a second language. Connie worked at other fun, social community-oriented jobs such as at the Addy Sea, and as a driver for the Bethany Beach Trolley and the Bear Trap Shuttle, until she retired in 2014.
Her later adult life was filled with much travel and adventures, including skydiving in Australia, hiking the Franz Joseph Glacier in New Zealand, piloting a small craft airplane in Ocean City, exploring the spas of Bali, gliding in Bucks County and taking several hot air balloon rides. With her daughter, Jacqueline, she travelled to France, Italy, and New Zealand and she flew many times to visit her Australian family for extended stays. With the birth of her newest grandchild, Talia, Connie spent even more time with her son, Steven, and daughter in law, Sara, in lovely Scottsdale, AZ.
Connie was an artistic soul, who enjoyed painting, reading and her treasured community "Ladies Group". She was a bright light to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by many.
Connie is survived by her husband John DePalma, her two children, Steven Joseph DiPrimio [Sara] and Jacqueline Anastasia Ullman [Adam], her two step-children, Christine DePalma [Larry Haywood] and Jeremy DePalma [Masami]. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Kenta DePalma, Aidan Ullman, Liam Ullman and Talia DiPrimio.
Connie has/had four siblings: Sandra (deceased), John (living in Pennsylvania), Joseph (living in Georgia), and Cheryl (living in Tennesee).
Her memorial service will be held at Melson's Funeral Home in their Ocean View chapel on Thursday, May 8th with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. The Memorial will commence at 10:30 a.m., sharp.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in Connie's name. Connie was an avid supporter of PETA and lover of all animals.
