Connie Sue Gertz, age 79, of Flushing, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Flushing, Michigan. Private arrangements were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.
Connie was born on February 24, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Wilma (Raymond) Goff. She graduated from Ainsworth High School, class of 1964. Throughout her career, Connie demonstrated a deep passion for helping others, serving as an advocate for several organizations, including the Flint YWCA Safe House, the Women's Shelter of Flint, CCNA, and Voices for Children. Her contributions to these establishments highlighted her unwavering desire to support those in need and make a positive impact in her community. She found joy in reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book, and relished the moments spent with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that would be passed down through the generations.
She is survived by her children, Jodie (Dave) Barclay and Jayson Gertz, who continue to honor her legacy of kindness and strength. Connie's heart filled with pride for her seven grandchildren: Ciara, Alli, Lucas, Jacob, Haylee, Noel, and Jonah, as well as her four great-grandchildren. Additionally, her sibling, Sheryl Mesler, Mark Goff, Jill Currie, Gail Perkins, Candace Hall, and Bill Goff; and her special life long friend, Joanne Scott - remain to carry forward her spirit of love and support.
