It is with heavy hearts that the family of Connie LeDoux Leonards announces her passing on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Oaklane Nursing Home with loving family by her side, at the age of 85.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday, December 19, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata. Entombment will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum with Father Michael M. Sucharski SVD, Celebrant.
Connie was a homemaker, who was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many people. She was a very religious person, who loved her Catholic faith and raised her children to be very strong Catholics and to love their faith as well. Everyone that knew her, knew how much she prayed and she often received phone calls from family and friends asking her to pray for them and their needs saying, "They knew she had a direct line to Heaven" and she always, without hesitation, added them to her prayer list. She was very active in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and administered Communion to the sick in the Mowata area for 25 years. She was an adorer at the Adoration Chapel since its inception 29 years ago, being one of its original adorers and was a previous member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Connie spent many days as a caregiver for many family members including both of her parents, her mother-in-law, her loving husband, sister-in-law, and children. She always put everyone else's needs before her own. But above all else, what she loved most and instilled in her children, was the importance and love of family. She believed in keeping the family close and cooked just about every Sunday in order to make sure this happened.
The family would like to extend special thanks to nurses & staff at Oaklane Nursing Home in Eunice, nurses & staff at Audubon Hospice of Lafayette, Dr. Juliette Robinson, Dr. Kian Ehsan, & nurses & staff at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
Connie will be sadly missed by her four children: Phil Leonards and wife, Shelia; Denise Leonards LeBouef and husband, Bernard; Kim Leonards Gaspard and husband, Kenneth; and Yvette Leonards Ortego and husband, Dirk all of Eunice; twelve grand- children, Cherice L. Teets (Travis), Dr. Lloyd Ryan Leonards (Dr.Ania), Heath Leonards (Lauren), Jared LeBouef, Kaitlyn LeBouef, Jami L. Vidrine (Phillip), Eric Gaspard (Maggie), Christopher Gaspard (Lynzi), Allison G. Ariza (Ricky), Taylor Gaspard (Elizabeth), Jonathon Ortego (Hannah), and Richlyn O. Zaunbrecher (Kalob); fifteen great grandchildren Alexis & Kayla Teets, Luke Leonards, Julianne LeBouef Aguillard, Gracie, Jax, & Millie- Kate Gaspard, Eli Gaspard, Allaiyah & Abel Ariza, Chance, Brooklyn, & Austin Ortego, and Judd & Jack Henry Zaunbrecher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Phillip Leonards, Sr.; her parents, Joe LeDoux and Leaty Manuel LeDoux; her siblings, Marion "Tootie" Fruge, Jo Ann Smith, and Ray LeDoux.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, December 18th from 2:00PM until 9:00PM and again on Monday, December 19th from 8:00AM until time of services. Loretta Z. Kurta will recite a rosary at 6:00PM on Sunday evening.
