For 93 years, Alberta Cecile Heinen Frey graced her family and friends with love and prayers, and on Monday, August 18, 2025, she passed away into Jesus’ loving arms. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant.
Alberta was born in Basile on June 26, 1932, to William and Ethel Lafleur Heinen. She had a very active childhood playing sports and riding her favorite horse, Tony. When she met Edmund Frey, she knew he was to be her husband. They worked tirelessly on the farm. She ensured her children would attend Catholic school and be raised in the church. Alberta was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, taught Catechism, and devoted an hour of adoration each week to the Lord. Because of her years of service to her church, she was awarded the Bishop’s Medal in 2018. Alberta was also a member of the Eunice Bulb and Blossom Club for many years as she loved gardening in her own yard, planting, canning, and cooking for her friends and family.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her, especially her four children, Marilyn Taylor and husband, Terry of Shreveport, Gary Frey and wife, Margaretta, Blane Frey and wife, Anna, and Tracie Young and husband, Kevin, all of Eunice; seven grandchildren, Sunni Richard and husband, Blake, Cade Frey and wife, Catherine, Cody Taylor and wife, Tiffany, Beaugh Frey and wife, Melissa, Randy Reed and wife, Jenny, Erin Frey and Alex Young; nine great grandchildren; as well as extended family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Edmund Frey; her parents; sisters, Mae Miller and Dorothy Toups; and brother, Raymond Heinen.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 3 pm until 9 pm, and again on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6 pm on Monday. .
