With heavy hearts and unmeasurable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Connor Charles Taverna entered into eternal rest on July 21, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, friends, and his fellow officers in blue.
Connor was a brave warrior who spent over two years fighting Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive brain cancer. Though his time on earth was far too short, the courage, strength, and joy he brought to the world were nothing short of extraordinary.
Born on February 20, 2018, to his loving parents, Heidi and Chas Taverna, Connor quickly became the light of their lives. His bond with his little sister Hadley was beautiful and unbreakable - a connection filled with laughter, adventure, and sibling love.
Connor had a smile that could light up any room he walked into. It wasn't just his smile that shone - it was his spirit. Whether he was sharing his love for dinosaurs, casting a fishing line with his dad, heading out on a hunting adventure, roasting s'mores by the fire, or spending hours playing games at the arcade, Connor lived each moment with joy, curiosity and heart.
In his short seven years, Connor made an incredible impact on everyone who knew him. His strength inspired his family, his community, and countless others who followed his journey. He was an honorary member of the local fire departments as well as police force and proud to wear the badge. The love and loyalty of his fellow officers gave Connor a second family - one bound not by blood, but by bravery and brotherhood. He was a member of The Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association.
He loved attending the children's program at Waggoners Church every Sunday.
Connor's memory will be cherished forever by his parents Heidi and Chas, his sister Hadley, and a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and those lucky enough to have known his beautiful soul.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Cure Starts Now, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for DIPG and continuing the fight Connor so bravely began.
Rest easy, sweet Connor. Your battle is over, but your light will never fade. We will carry your smile with us always.
