Constance Hayne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hampton Funeral Homes - Hillsdale on Feb. 15, 2024.
Constance D. Hayne of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away on February 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 9, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Dr. Gilbert and Carol (Hoesman) Keil and was a 1960 graduate of Rogers High School. She furthered her studies at Ohio State University before transferring to the University of Toledo and majoring in early child education.
Constance is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Hayne; three children, Chad Hayne, Todd Hayne, and Amy (Curtis) Wagner; seven grandchildren, Austin Hayne, Lauren Hayne, Taylor Hayne, Kaden Hayne, Emma Wagner, Anna Wagner, and James Wagner; two nieces, Kelly Jones and Kim Periat; and great niece and nephews, Kamdyn Periat, Grant Periat, and Andrew Jones.
She is preceded in passing by her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Deborah (Dennis) Felton.
In addition to raising three children, Constance was also the owner of Step-By-Step Preschool, where she taught for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2012. Constance's life was dedicated to children and making their first experience of school magical. Constance was an active member of the Hillsdale Community Church of the Nazarene and was a blessing to all that knew her. She truly enjoyed her daily walks over the past 30 years with her close friend Darlene (Dar) Copp. Her favorite hobby was reading books and her daughter, Amy, and Dar would trade books back and forth with each other as they finished them. Other hobbies included watching sports on television especially Michigan Wolverines football and basketball, the Detroit Lions, and LPGA and PGA golf events. She loved taking family vacations near Cashiers, North Carolina. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved taking care of her family and enjoyed hosting family gatherings. She cherished every minute the family could spend together. Constance had a way of making everyday events feel special and her zest for life is an example of how to live for those she has left behind. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
At her request cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life to honor her will be held at the Hillsdale Community Church of the Nazarene on Saturday March 9th beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Mike Prince officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday March 9th from 11:00am until the time of the service. Private family interment will take place at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Hillsdale Community Church of the Nazarene.
