SALEM, CONN. – Constance 'Connie' Jane Pierce, 92, of Salem, Conn., and formerly of Pittsburg, N.H., died peacefully in the care of her son, Jon Pierce and daughter-in-law, Kathy, in Oakdale, Conn., on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, after several months of declining health.
She was born in Nashua, N.H., on March 17, 1933, a daughter to the late Robert A. and Elizabeth R. (Ford) Conery. Connie attended schools in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1950. She then attended the Nashua Nursing School and graduated as a registered nurse in 1953.
For a time, Connie worked as a nurse in southern New Hampshire and later in Oregon. She and her husband moved their family from their home in Hollis and relocated to Pittsburg in 1969 and owned and operated Powder Horn Lodge and Cabins for 17 years. During that time, Connie also worked as a nurse at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, and at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. She also worked as a school nurse at St. Albert's and Pittsburg schools at the end of her career. Connie also adopted and cared for her friend's adult, disabled son, Alfred Fisher, for many years until his passing.
Following her retirement, Connie enjoyed travels across the United States, visiting every state except Hawaii. She and her husband drove across the country to Alaska three times where they enjoyed gold prospecting. Their children were scattered throughout the country, and she enjoyed visiting them and celebrating holidays with them. Connie was a great cook and always enjoyed cooking for a crowd or sharing meals with her neighbors. She loved watching cooking shows and was an avid weather watcher and storm tracker.
She is survived by five children: Linda J. Young of Bell, Fla., Jon R. (Kathleen) Pierce of Oakdale, Conn., Dale A (Itir) Pierce of Peyton, Colo., Scott P. (Elizabeth) Pierce of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Barry C. Pierce of Odessa Tex.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and her friend, Nicole Pierce of Gainesville, Va.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert E. Pierce in 2010, a daughter, Brenda Pierce in 1973, and her brother Amos R. Conery.
At her specific request, there will be no public calling hours. A graveside interment service will be held in the spring of 2026 at the Hollow Cemetery in Pittsburg, N.H., of which notice will be given.
