Rochester – Constance R. Viel, 77, of Rochester, passed away on Monday, September 30, at Langdon Place in Dover, New Hampshire.
She was born on April 22, 1947, in Rochester, New Hampshire to Lucien and Dorothy (Cossette) Dumont.
Constance was a lifetime resident of the area and proudly served her country as a member of the United States Marine Corp. She spent much of her working career with General Electric, working in both plants located in Somersworth and Hooksett, New Hampshire. Later, she was a greeter at Wal Mart. However, her passion for sudoku, her beloved game shows and joy of watching her New England Patriots was only surpassed by attending and watching any sports played by her grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Langdon Place of Dover for their thoughtfulness and care for Constance. Another extension of their gratitude is sent to Wentworth Hospice, and in particular to Sara West for the care Constance received in her final days.
She is predeceased by her parents Lucien and Dorothy Dumont, her husband of 41 years James Viel, siblings Michael Pay, Irene Devereau and Martha Grenier. Survivors include sons Anthony (Gina) Viel of Rochester, Scott (Tina) Viel of Milton; brothers Randy Dumont, Larry Dumont, David Dargie, and John Pay; sister Linda Giampietro; grandchildren Aimee (Travis) Shanholtz, Amber (Josh) Carrier, Nicole Viel, Jessica Viel, Jonathan Viel; great grandchildren Makenna Shanholtz and Thea Shanholtz.
A Funeral Mass for Constance will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Holy Rosary Church, 189 N. Main St, Rochester, NH, with burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover.
