Corabelle Mae Crippen, 97, of rural Rochester, Indiana passed surrounded by family at 11:28 pm, Monday, November 10, 2025.
Corabelle was born on May 22, 1928, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Elvin J. and Florence Bell (Smith) Kistler. She graduated from Grass Creek High School in 1946 and, shortly thereafter, on June 2, 1946, married Charles A. Crippen in Grass Creek. They shared a devoted life together until his passing on February 21, 2008.
A dedicated member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Corabelle served faithfully as both organist and Sunday school teacher. She also worked as the bookkeeper for Athens Oliver Sales, where she and her husband began operating the dealership in 1957.
Corabelle loved to laugh and enjoyed music, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She cared deeply for her family and also served as a caregiver for many in the community. She lived as a faithful Christian woman. She passed her love of music on to her daughters, and together they enjoyed many cherished moments, including shopping trips.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Sutton and Lorie Hurst both of Rochester; grandchildren, Kenneth and wife Michele Hurst, William and wife Kimberly Hurst, Terry and wife Trista Hurst, Rob and wife Laura Sutton and Amy and husband T.J. Conrad; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Corabelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck; son Charles Leon Crippen; brothers Manford, Delbert, Calvin; sister Frieda Colby; and son-in-laws David Hurst (2024) and Bob Sutton (2025).
The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, November 17, 2025 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Donnie Kohls officiating.
The interment will take place following the service in the Richland Center Cemetery, northwest of Rochester next to her husband.
Visitation will be held from 9 am to 11 am, Monday, November 17, 2025 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to Gideon's International and Bethlehem Baptist Church.
