Corey Scott Matthews

Corey Scott Matthews, age 46, of Hiram, GA passed away on December 13, 2023.

He was born on November 10, 1977 in Atlanta, GA.  Corey accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Stonecrest Baptist Church in Woodstock, GA.

He graduated from Sequoyah High School, Class of 1996.  He served in the US Army from 1996-2000.  He was based out of Fort Bragg, NC in the Military Police/Airborne Division.   He served two tours in Bosnia as part of the US Peacekeeping Force. 

Corey worked for several companies as Building Chief in Commercial Real Estate for many years and most recently worked for Cushman & Wakefield at Chick-Fil-A Supply in Cartersville.

Corey will always be remembered for his huge personality and love for his family.   He was passionate about coaching his children in baseball and softball and spent many hours at the ball parks.   He was a huge dog lover and bred beagles naming them after Star War and Toy Story characters.   He also loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and was an avid bowler. 

He is survived by his parents, Dale and Gerald Darnell and Matt and Linda Matthews; his loving wife of 18 years, Tiffany (Jones) Matthews, children, Tyler and Lauren; Sister-in-Law, Traci (Kinte) Linder; their children: Trenton and Kingston; Brother, Greg (Robin) Matthews; their children, Shawn, Eric, Nathan and Caroline; Step-Brothers: Deron Darnell; Jason (Brittany) Haney; their children: Chandler and Olivia; Brian (Jody) Haney; their children:  Emily, Allyson and Noah;

There will be a visitation from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, December 27 and a service of remembrance will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, December 28 at West Cobb Funeral Home 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, GA 30064. Online guestbook at www.westcobbfuneralhome.com
