SALEM - Corey Yung Spencer, left this world too soon on Wednesday morning, August 21, 2024, at the age of 29, He passed away in the comfort of his Salem home, surrounded by the love of his family. Corey was born on July 28, 1995, in Youngstown, the son of Shawn Spencer, who resides in Florida, and Pamela Cosgrove, of Salem.
His life was further enriched by his loving wife, Ashley (DiMuzio) Spencer, whom he married on February 4, 2023, they shared a bond that was unmistakable in its depth and joy. In addition, Miko, his loyal companion, was by his side always. Corey's family tree was abundant with so much love and support, including grandmothers, in-laws, several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss his infectious smile and generous spirit !!!
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfathers, Joe "Pops" Cosgrove and his Popa Choi, cherished great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who had a profound influence on his life.
Corey was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he received amazing spiritual embarrassment from Pastor Alan during his marriage to Ashley and his Baptismal transformation in Christ our Lord.
Corey was a proud graduate of Salem High School and graduate of the Columbiana Career Center with certificates in welding.
Corey dedicated his time and talents as the Grounds Keeper manager at Kensington Golf Course. His love for the outdoors and meticulous attention to detail made him a valued and respected member of the team with prior employment at Flying Bee Golf Course and the Salem Golf Club. His dream was always to keep grounds for a PGA Tour. Corey's love of music (a spectacular song writer), fishing, golfing, cooking were his alleged passions as he became an adult. His younger years were occupied by drawing (an amazing artist), skateboarding/ bmx biking with his friends and school sports including baseball, football, and wrestling. A diehard Atlanta Falcons fan, Corey's loyalty to his team was unwavering. Win or lose, he stood by the Falcons with the same steadfastness that he showed to his friends and family. Corey was also a member at the Salem Club, where he loved to play pool. His Salem Club 'family' has been very important in his life and extremely supportive.
Those who knew Corey would describe him as kind, friendly, and creative. His kindness was a gentle force that made the world a better place. His friendly nature made him a joy to be around, and his creative soul was a gift that he shared generously with all.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St.,
Salem, OH 44460.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Stark Memorial with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating.
