CORNELIUS TONET

TONET--Cornelius "Connie" Bryan. It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Cornelius "Connie" Bryan Tonet, age 74, on May 10, 2024 due to complications after heart surgery. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Sullivan) Tonet. Mary and Connie walked hand and hand for 55 years and looked forward to celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary on July 1st. The son of Enrico and Julia (Silvia) Tonet, Cornelius Bryan Tonet (better known as Connie or Bryan) was born on November 17, 1949 in Trieste, Italy. Bryan spent his early school years in Middletown, RI and for college he chose Virginia Tech, which remained close to his heart (Go Hokies!). He graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree in 1971. Bryan also obtained an MBA from URI and PMC from Bryant. Bryan worked at Blue Cross for more than 20 years and remained in the IT/ project management field across his career. He also taught at URI. During his children's younger years, Bryan coached their baseball and basketball games; he was their biggest champion. He also participated in Rotary activities. The most important part of Bryan's life was always family and friends. Besides his wife, Mary, Bryan leaves behind three children: Jeremy and his wife Beth and their three children, Mark, Benjamin, and Allison; Joshua and his wife Stephanie and their three children, Sophie, Mia, and Luke; and Jenna and her fiance Amit Nagpal. Bryan was predeceased by his brother Enrico Tonet, Jr. (Polly), his sister Catherine Murray (Thomas), and brother Joseph Tonet. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Bryan is survived by his sister Bernadette Moniz (Frank) and many nieces and nephews. In their younger years Bryan and Mary brought their children to Deer Isle, ME for 17 summers, creating many fond family memories. The Tonets hosted warm family Christmas parties. Family trips included Disney World, VT football games and visiting family and friends. During his retirement years, Bryan and Mary enjoyed going to PPAC shows, dance lessons, and trips to Italy, Iceland, England, Scotland and Ireland - especially Ireland. Fun-filled and exciting Christmas time trips to Disney World with the grandchildren and their parents created many fond memories. Bryan especially enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren. Calling hours will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on May 24, 2024 from 4 to 7pm. A processional gathering will take place at the funeral home on May 25, 2024 at 8:45am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saints John & Paul Parish in Coventry at 10am.
