Craig Andersson Obituary

family on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was 87 years old.
A graduate of Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he went on to earn his Bachelor
of Science degree at the University of Minnesota in Chemical Engineering and completed post-
graduate work at the University of Delaware. His professional career consisted of numerous
positions within the chemicals division of the U.S. Steel Corporation, ultimately retiring as Vice
Chairman of Aristech Chemical Corporation in 1995. He served on the boards of directors of
Albemarle Corporation, RTI International Metals, and Duquesne University.
Craig served as a radar operator in the United States Naval Reserves as a member of squadrons
VP-816 and VP-932. He took great pride in being an American.
He had a true love of the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter and fly fisherman. From his
hunting cabin in Ottawa, Ohio to the far reaches of the globe, Craig's travel adventures gave him
many amazing memories that he treasured until the end.
Craig is predeceased by his parents, Anders Einar Andersson and Doris Pearson, and his brother,
Kurt Andersson.
Craig is survived by his beautiful wife, Dawn, of 65 years; four children: Erik Andersson (Pam),
Karin Monteparte (Jerry), Kris Andersson, and Jenni Loeffler (Doug); 15 grandchildren: Jacob (32),
Kirsten (29), Lucas (27), Ross (24), Daniel (24), Ian (22), Joshua (22), Sydney (22), Elijah (22),
Nathaniel (20), Andrew (19), Madelaine (19), Joseph (18), Alexander (17), and Adam (17) and two
great-grandchildren: David (5) and Miles (3).
Visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17 th at Simons Funeral Home,
7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh 15237. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July
18 th at St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland, 311 Cumberland Road, Pittsburgh 15237.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that donations be made to Junior Achievement
(https://jausa.ja.org) in honor of Craig and Dawn's early beginnings.
