Craig Eugene Gassett, a Retired Dentist in Tallahassee since 1977, passed away on April 21, 2024
at 72 years old.
Born and raised in Gainesville, Florida graduating from Gainesville High School in 1970. He attended the University of Florida and was an alumni of 50 years from Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Craig graduated in 1977 from the University of Maryland Dental School earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Craig has been married since 1973 to his high school sweetheart, D-Ann Plant Gassett. Celebrating 50 years last August. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children, Jason D. Gassett (Kim),
Jennifer L. Gassett (Tien) as well as his two grandchildren, Madison M. Miller and Ty T. Le and brother,
C. Coolidge Gassett, Jr. (Sara). He is also survived by his beloved Aunt and Uncle Norma and Dewey Thornton, Lake Butler, FL.
In Craig's Dental profession, he was an active member of the American Dental Association and The Florida Dental Association. He was a member of the Leon County Dental Association, a member of Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Society at the University of Maryland, a member of The FJS Odontological Society at the University of Maryland and a member of AIE Dental Implant Institute.
Craig was a former member of Tallahassee Rotary and Ducks Unlimited and Killearn Country Club as an avid hunter, enjoying golf and tennis prior to retiring. Driving back and forth to our farm in Cairo was such a joy never meeting a stranger.
Married in The First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Craig and D-Ann and family were members of St. Paul's United Methodist when they moved to Tallahassee. When they moved to Killearn Estates in 1984, they joined Killearn United Methodist Church.
It goes without saying, any medical issue Craig was presented with, he fought. Whether it was three clinical trials for Melanoma with a 1 percent chance to survive brain tumors in 2009 to all the subsequent trials he faced, he fought with a smile on his face cancer free.
A viewing will be at Beggs Funeral Home on Apalachee Parkway from 4-6 on Sunday, April 28, 2024
The funeral service celebrating Craig's life will be in the Beggs Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Following will be burial at Roselawn Cemetery on Piedmont Drive.

Craig was a neighbor in Pebble Creek. He always greeted me with a smile, had something good to say or a joke. He enjoyed people. He was a light and will be missed.

Craig was an amazing person. Always praising everyone for their accomplishments but never looking for praise for himself. He always liked to tell everyone that I was the person in charge at BB&T. I loved this man & will miss him so very much. Rest in peace, my friend - you deserve it!!
