Craig Robert Schindlbeck was an amazing grandfather, father, husband, and friend. He had a huge heart and gentle spirit. Craig was a kind and generous person. Throughout his entire life he always looked for ways to help and bring joy to others. He was generous with his time, always willing to share what he knew and build a better community. Craig passed away at the age of 72 after bravely facing a long battle with various health challenges. His strength and resilience throughout the years will always be remembered. Craig was born on August 30, 1952 in Aurora, IL and he went to rest with our Lord and Savior on August 9, 2025.
He was a 1970 graduate of Oswego High School and continued on to achieve a Bachelors in Business from Aurora University and Masters from University of Illinois. He was a member of Stephen Ministry, a lay person trained in pastoral care, where he was a leader of grief share groups. Before his retirement Craig was a teacher, he also enjoyed spending his time on the beaches of Sanibel Island, Florida, road tripping with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and collecting coins. He started a family business, Craig's Remodeling Service, which included his sons where he taught them how to remodel and fix houses.
He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy L Schindlbeck (Kittoe) and his son Christopher R (Danielle) Schindlbeck, and his grandchildren Sophia, Charlie, and Olivia Schindlbeck. His brother and best friend, Timothy (Jackie) Walsh and his beloved niece Melanie (Ryan) Dewey and his favorite God daughter Haley (Michael) Warren. He will rest in peace with his son Matthew D Schindlbeck, his sister Robin Hodgson, and parents Donald and Melva Schindlbeck.
A celebration of life and memorial service for friends and family will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at DIETERLE MEMORIAL HOME 1120 S. Broadway
Montgomery, IL. Visitation will be 3-4PM with funeral service starting at 4 PM. Cremation was accorded at the wish of Craig and his family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossroads Church 3003 S Eola Rd. Aurora, IL 60503. For additional information please call (630) 897-1196.
