A wonderful, kind and loving man. A great colleague and `amigo´ who we will miss terribly. Until we meet again `Euskadi!´

As a twenty year old back in 1970, I once earnestly asked Dr. Mendizábal what the meaning of life is. He replied, "To make life a prayer."
He made his life a prayer.
In love and gratitude,

Dear Mendizabal Family,
I am one of the 26 students who comprised the 1971 study-in-Valladolid Group, so it´s been my privilege to have known Cruz for more than 50 years. As our professor, he was always kind and approachable, and those qualities added to his effectiveness as a teacher. Later, as friend to the seven of us from the 1971 group who maintained frequent contact with him over so many years, he maintained those same qualities.
Like you, I mourn his passing. And like you, I celebrate this great man´s life. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Our group was the sixth to participate in PA Valladolid program (1971), a life changing experience which created wonderful memories and more importantly, lifelong friends. Blessed to have been able to reconnect with Cruz via emails during these last few years.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. You know you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Cruz will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
