Crystal Helen (Anderson) Ferley passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea, MN, at the age of 100.
Born to Ole and Wilhelmina Anderson on August 9, 1923 in New Richland, MN, she later made her home in Albert Lea, where she completed her education at Albert Lea High School in 1942. Crystal's life took a turn towards love and commitment when she wed Lemour Ferley on May 29, 1943, in San Diego during his military service with the Marines. As Lemour was deployed, she returned to Albert Lea to be near her family.
During Lemour's deployment, Crystal entered the workforce at Wilson Foods, later transitioning into a role as a homemaker upon welcoming their daughter, Jane. Her love for fashion and style led her to employment at Anderson's Fashion, where she flourished. Notably, Crystal's radiant personality made her a beloved figure at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community, where she found a second family among the residents and staff, even achieving fame as the face of their inaugural billboard.
Known for her infectious positivity and genuine interest in others, she always had a smile to share and touched the lives of those around her with kindness and compassion. Her remarkable journey led her to the fantastic milestone of her 100th birthday, a testament to her resilience and zest for life that inspired many.
Crystal will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane (Michal) Hanson; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jasmine) Hanson and Kelli (Bryce) Thingvold; sister-in-law, Elaine Rogness; Godchildren, Paula Knutson and David Nelson. She was like a second mother to Nancy Gothe and David Christensen. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friend and caregiver, Gloria Perez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemour Ferley; sister, Evelyn "Tootsie" Hopfe; and brothers, Glen Anderson and Lester Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2023 at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, Mn; Pastor John Holt will officiate. Crystal's family will greet guests at a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea, MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to "Peace and Power" at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN or to the charity of your choice in Crystal's memory. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
