Crystal Gayle Hegwood: A Life Dedicated to Love, Light, and Family
It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Crystal Gayle Hegwood, who departed this life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 48. Born on April 1, 1977, Crystal filled every room she entered with warmth, resilience, and a distinctive light that will be sorely missed.
A true testament to the power of dedication, Crystal started her journey in Valdosta, Georgia, and committed herself to education and professional growth. She worked her way up, ultimately earning her Master's in Business, a foundation that supported her long and distinguished career. For over two decades, she was a respected and integral member of the team at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee.
Crystal's greatest joy, however, was found not in her titles, but in the life she built with her family. She was the cornerstone of her home, creating beauty and comfort through her many passions. She was a gifted cook and gardener, finding peace in nurturing life and flavor. Her creative spirit shone through her hobby of making candles, creating literal light for her loved ones. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family making countless memories that will be held dear forever.
Crystal is survived by her husband, Charles Thomas Hegwood, son Joseph Thomas Hegwood and daughter, Katelynn Lexus Hegwood. Her love extended to her cherished family of pets-Bella Donna, Moccasin Bin, Smokey Joe, and Callie-and her adored grand-pups: Tipsy, Clyde Sheldon, Scout, Django, and Eclipse. She joins in heaven those who predeceased her: her mother, Barbara Ann Westlake; her nephew, Justin Andrew James.
May her legacy be one of fierce love, quiet strength, and unwavering support. Her memory will be carried forward in every flickering candlelight, every beautiful bloom, and every shared family meal.
A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 15, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
