On Monday, December 13, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center our loved one, Curtis Grier, Sr., was called home to be with the Lord.
Curtis Grier, Sr. was born February 26, 1929 in Abbeville, SC to the late McNeil and Rosa Hunter Grier. He was the 3rd eldest of 9 children: Andy, Mabel, Annie Lee, Corrine, Eleanor, Hazel, Lonnie, and James.
On January 3, 1951, Curtis was inducted in the Army and was Honorably discharged on February 17, 1953. While in the Army he received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars. Mr. Grier retired from the trucking industry with over 50 years of driving experience.
Curtis leaves to be sorely missed by his son, Curtis (Felicia) Grier, Jr.; two sisters, Lonnie Allgood (Roy) Branch of Jamaica, NY and Corinne Ellen Williams of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Joy, Carina, Carrena, and Savannah; goddaughters, Denis Patterson of Pennsylvania and Leana Smith of New York; and a host of relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, A.J. Grier, Eleanor McIntosh, Annie Lee Gambrell, Hazel Robinson, James Grier, and Mabel Grier Arrington.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Rocky River A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
