Curtis Roy Sams was born on June 20, 1959 to Hayward Sams Sr. and Roxie Mae (Brazell) Sams in
Dime Box, Texas. He attended school in Dime Box ISD all the way through high school, he also joined the Goodwill Baptist Church under Rev. A.P. Person where he was baptized. Curtis later moved to Houston, Texas where he went to work for H.B Zockery for several years. After his time in Houston, Curits moved back to Giddings and settled in for the next thirty-five years working for Newman & King for many of those years before finding a roll in Lexington ISD as a custodian. He truly loved his job at the school, he talked about his co-workers and students any chance he got. Curtis never knew a stranger, the baby of four boys his older brothers taught him how to roll with anything that came his way. He was truly a joy from a baby all the way up to the man he became, he brought joy and laughter everywhere he went. Whenever Curtis wasn't working you could find him out fishing, on trail rides, dancing, playing dominoes, and always setting up his next joke on his friends. He loved BBQ and most importantly taking care of his family.
Curtis left this world the morning of Friday, October 13, 2023 at his home in Giddings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hayward Sr. and Roxie Mae Sams; two brothers, John Willis Sams, and Hayward Sams Jr., and one sister, Jeulene Sams.
