Cindy was born on January 28, 1956, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Audrey (Amosson) Naefke. Cindy spent her younger years growing up on a farm with her two loving parents and two sisters. She graduated from Clarion High School and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She spent most of her life in Urbandale, Iowa in her career as a social worker, and also worked for the State of Iowa as a Disability Examiner.
Survivors include her daughter Kaitlin (Jesse) Scott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters Debby (Tom) Winch of Marshalltown, Iowa Kathy Naefke of St. Paul, Minnesota, many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and a few best friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Audrey Naefke and brother-in-law Dean McMullen.
Cindy was a kind soul, fun spirit, and a social butterfly. She loved to travel and experience new places. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, and seeking out new restaurants to try with her friends. She volunteered and attended church as often as she could. Cindy was a special person to everyone she met, before, during, and after her journey with dementia. Her bright blue eyes melted hearts, her smile was contagious, and her giggle was her trademark.
Cindy spent many years caring for others as a social worker, but her number one role was being a mother to her only daughter, Kaitlin. Kaitlin was her pride and joy and when Cindy could no longer care for herself, Kaitlin was there every step of the way. She learned from the best.
Cindy will be missed dearly by her daughter, family, and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hiawatha Care Center.
