Lenore A. Monroe passed away on August 18, 2025, in Cedar Rapids after a long battle of Dementia. Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Funeral Service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1363 1st Street Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born on May 5, 1931, in Pontiac, MI to Max and Eleanor (Smith) Wells. In her work career Lenore worked as a school cook, administrative assistant at Kirkwood College Health Department and as a secretary for Wilson Foods before retiring in 1986. Lenore loved Jesus and taught Gil and Vicki about Church and God. Always she loved family and being together. Lenore was involved with many church activities in which included singing in the church choir. Lenore loved God, Life, Family and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Lenore was a beautiful seamstress, on the sewing machine, and by hand making hardanger doilies all hand stitched. She also crocheted afghans, made quilts and did macramé, she was very crafty. Lenore and Dwayne and with family went camping and enjoyed their time together.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Mike) Hagen; grandchildren, Heather Vahl, Brian Hagen and Darren (Moriah) Hagen; great-grandchildren, Keona, Ezra, Lyla, and Lisa (Bill) Jump; great-grandson, Braylon; step-granddaughter, April Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
Lenore is preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Vahl and Dwayne Monroe; her parents; and son Gilbert Vahl.
Memorial contributions may be given to Camp Courageous and Trinity Lutheran Church.
