Cynthia Anne (Madron) Sandman of Wauneta departed this Earth for her heavenly body on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial. She was 71 years old.
Cynthia was born on September 9, 1953, in McCook, Nebraska, to DeWitt Clinton (Clint) and Ruth (Huet) Madron, she was the youngest of six children. Cynthia “Cindy” married Kirk Sandman on January 20, 1973, to this union five children were born, Derek, Seri, twins Tami and Ane, and Andrew.
Cindy attended McCook Public Schools, graduating in 1971. She attended McCook Community College pursuing a special education major where she met Kirk. Upon their marriage, she proudly raised her children on the family farm near Wauneta, enjoying gardening, cooking, and supporting her children’s athletic events. She was very active in the community establishing the Lord’s Joyful Singers at the Wauneta Methodist Church, serving Wauneta-Palisade Bronco Boosters, and Hamlet Union Church directing VBS, Christmas programs, AWANA, providing fabulous food, and hosting bible studies. Cindy enjoyed working at Walgren’s Super Market developing many lifelong friendships. She loved spending her summers at Enders Lake at the cabin with her family. Cindy’s greatest love were her children and grandchildren. She was known as “Grammie” to Haylee, Alexa, Addison, Jakin, Isaiah, Noah, Kamri, Andrew, Aysha, Sias, Nolan, EliAnne, Kaleb and Lucas.
Preceding Cindy in death were her parents, Clint and Ruth; sister, Jane Svendsen; son, Andrew Sandman (2003); in-laws, Virgil and Eda Marie Sandman; sister, Donnalee Kindler Malany, and brothers-in-law Rudy Mieth, Warren Kindler, Herb Malaney, Ed Overton.
Survivors include her husband, Kirk; children, Derek (Allison) Sandman of Wauneta; daughters, Seri (Dr. Jesse) Neal of Alma; Tami (Gregg) McPherson of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Ane (Brandon) Gosnell of Maxwell. Grandchildren Haylee Sandman of Hastings; Alexa Sandman of Kearney; Addison Neal of Glendale, AZ; Jakin Neal of Phoenix, AZ; Isaiah Neal of Alma; Noah Sandman of Wauneta; Kamri Neal of Alma; Andrew McPherson of Highlands Ranch, CO; Aysha Neal of Alma; Sias Neal of Alma; Nolan McPherson of Highlands Ranch, CO; EliAne McPherson of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Kaleb Gosnell and Lucas Gosnell of Maxwell. Sister, Marcia Overton of McCook; brother, James Madron of CO; brother, Bill (Judi) Madron of McCook; and brother-in-law Gene Svendsen of Lakewood, CO; and a host of friends, extended family members, and her caregivers, especially Jessie Murillo of Imperial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Hamlet Union Church with “Youth Group” in the memo line.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, January 10, 2025, 10:00 am MT/11:00 am CT, at Hamlet Union Church in Hamlet, NE. Cindy chose cremation and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
