Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Scheidel, 75, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Brickyard Health-La Porte Care Center.
Cindy was born on June 25, 1950, in La Porte, IN, to Bernie McMahan and Barbara (Hollenberg) McMahan-Hinton.
Surviving Cindy are her 2 sons, Brian Scheidel and Eric (Gabriella) Scheidel, all of La Porte; grandchildren, Layden (Jesus) Scheidel, Mary Scheidel and Hannah Smith, all of La Porte; sister, Bonnie (Dennis) Timm of La Porte; and 4 nephews, Derek McMahan of La Porte, Garett McMahan of New York City, Jarred Timm of La Porte, and Steve McMahan of La Porte.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hinton; stepfather, Al Hinton; brothers, Gary and Patrick McMahan; sister-in-law, Sigrid McMahan; nephew, Ryan Timm; and former husband, Don Scheidel Jr.
Cindy faced many medical challenges during her youth, but found her passion in working as a Nursing Assistant at Fountainview Nursing Home. She enjoyed crocheting, watching old tv shows, including Little House on the Prairie and Gunsmoke, and taking regular TransPorte visits to Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's, where she enjoyed time with her friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Foundation, 102 G Street, La Porte, IN 46350.
