Cynthia met her future husband Tommy in 1959, when she was 15 and he was 16. They met before a Pine Bluff High School football game when Tommy tied her tie for her band uniform. From then until now they were never separated for more than a day, except for Vietnam, while Tommy was in the Navy. Above all else she loved her girls and their spouses Analise and Mark Jernigan, Laura Stone and Erin and Roger Latsha. As you might expect, her grandchildren, Blake, Kevin, Taylor, and Tucker were very special.
Cynthia was born to loving Parents Albert and Virginia Railsback on March 8, 1944, in Pine Bluff. She was one of 4 siblings. She was preceded in death by her brothers Glenn Albert Railsback III and Joel Railsback. Cynthia remained close always with her sister Jennie Cooper and her nephews. After graduating from PBHS in 1962, she later earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1965. Cynthia taught school for several years until she started a daycare and preschool that was the first in the area to include children with disabilities in classrooms with children without disabilities. Cynthia then began her 30+ year commitment to The Arc Arkansas, an organization dedicated to providing support for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. It was while with The Arc she was able to generate programs and help write ADA legislation to give voice to the largely underrepresented and unheard-of group of people she was so passionate about.
Cynthia had a host of friends from childhood to college, her professional life, and neighbors. All of them agreed she had the prettiest crystal blue eyes that matched her lovely personality.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
