Cyril M. “Cy” Serwe, 85, of Campbellsport went to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at his home with his beloved family gathered around him after a battle with heart disease. Cy was born on December 22, 1939, the 11th child in the first house north of Campbellsport on Hwy V (right after the Alliance Church). Cy was active in high school. He played baseball, basketball and football along with working a number of odd jobs. He graduated in 1958 from Campbellsport High School and worked second shift at Gehl’s in West Bend. For exercise he spent time at St. Matthew’s gym, which led to a coaching career that lasted 20 plus years.
On October 22, 1960, Cy married the love of his life, Patricia A. Comins, and they began their family having eight children in 10 years. Cy continued working at Gehl’s, but also had part-time jobs including driving gas truck and school bus, roofing, and painting jobs. He eventually started his own company, Cy Serwe Roofing. Cy then began delivering mail for the US Post Office, a job that lasted 27 years along with his roofing work. Cy was always active at St. Matthew’s Parish, but after retiring he began doing even more; whatever was needed. He enjoyed playing Scot with his brothers, playing baseball including the over 30 league, and was always an active bowler at King Pin Lanes; along with going to 30 National Bowling Tournaments.
Cy was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus-Bishop Salvator Schlaefer Council 11301. He was active in all their projects and was in charge of entertainment at meetings, including his famous Old Fashions. He gave blood ever since he got out of high school and helped set up many blood drives. He was a member of the St. Matthew’s Choir and a lector at church. Cy worked hard, played hard and loved hard. He once said “I loved every day of my life!” and it showed. Cy was an important part of our community and he will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving family includes his children: Catherine M. “Kitty” (Daniel) Miller, Carol M.(James) Ninnemann, Christina M. (Dean) Bohlman, Charles M. (Robin) Serwe, Clifford M. (Claudia) Serwe, Susan L.
