Dale K. “Boots” Johnson, 86, of Wales, ND, passed away April 11, 2025, at Osnabrock Community Living Center in Osnabrock, ND.
Dale was born December 29, 1938, in Langdon, ND, to Orlin and Bernice (Hanson) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Wales, graduating in 1956. Boots married Sonjie Nelson of Sarles and had four children. He attended UND and earned a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the government and private contractors as well as owned his own ready-mix and block plant in South Dakota. Boots also was the resident engineer for the US Army Corp of Engineers in Minot, ND. He returned to the Wales area in 1994, where he bought a house and lived while not working in Minot.
Boots enjoyed golfing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving Dale are his children: Marty (Anna) of Saint Paul, MN, David (Gloria) of New Jersey, and Julie of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren: Isabel, Joshua, Nicholas, Jacob, and Mariano; and niece Sherry Harshman (Johnny) of Langdon, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Mark; siblings: Jay, Oral (Joann), and Jerry (Annie); and nephew Jim Johnson.
A gathering to remember Boots will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on August 15, 2025, At the Hop in Langdon.
