Dale R. Boring of
Kingston, TN died January 28, 2023. He was born in Polk County, TN. His early youth was spent doing things that young boys did during the Great Depression. He was the first in his family to attend high school. He graduated from Bradley High School in
Cleveland, TN in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in France and Germany. The tremendous destruction of the war made a lasting impression. Upon his discharge from the Army and his return to the United States he became the first in his family to attend college. Using the G.I. Bill he enrolled at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in
Cookeville, TN. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He had a deep respect for higher education and obtained a Tennessee Permanent Teaching Certificate. He met and married his life partner while at T.P.I., June Jeffers. They shared 60 years together. In 1954 they started Midtown Manufacturing Company. It was a small business that produced wood products from hardwood lumber. They shared the belief and true vision that small business is the core and source of innovation and strength for the American economy. Dale served on the White House Council for Small Business for 4 years during the Carter Administration. They also believed in service to the community. Dale served as President of the Roane County Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Roane County Industrial Board; President of the Roane County Fair and Member of the Board of Directors for Midtown Utility District. They believed in the power and strength of the 2-party political system. He and June attended national political conventions and enjoyed the political process. They enjoyed meeting many interesting people. They witnessed history being made. Traveling became a passion for them. They toured all the United States. They especially enjoyed Europe. Dale was very pleased to see how Europe had risen like the Phoenix out of the ashes of destruction of WWII. Later in life Dale became interested in genealogy research. He and his cousin, Ronnie Boring, did extensive research. The long hours and hard work were rewarded with the establishment of the family tree of Chaney Boring/Boren. This entitled them and their descendants to membership in the First Families of Tennessee of the East TN Historic Society. Dale valued and cherished his family and close friends and exerted a quiet yet profound influence on family, business associates and friends. He and June always enjoyed hosting their July 4th gatherings to celebrate the country they respected and cherished so much. Dale was preceded in death by his wife, June J. Boring; parents, Horace and Lela Boring; Brother, Charles Boring; Daughter, Betsy Boring and son-in-law, Rolland Fuller. He is survived by Daughter, Linda Fuller; grandson, Matthew Fuller and wife Abigail Fuller; Great Granddaughter, Morgan Dale Fuller; cousin, Ronnie Boring and wife, Kathy Boring; cousin, Heather Boring. He will be missed. A private family service was held. Dale joins 4 generations of the John Lenard and Lucinda West Boring family buried at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleveland TN.
