Hampden - Dale Kevin Rafford, 68, passed unexpectedly in his sleep at the family camp on Squapan Lake on September 29th, 2024. He was born in Presque Isle in 1955, son of Alice and Ralph Rafford. The family resided in Masardis until 1964, when they moved to Hampden. Dale lived in Hampden with his brother Chris.
Dale's favorite hobbies included white water kayaking, building RC planes, restoring antique cars, trucks, and his beloved Jeep. You could always find him in the garage working on a project or mapping out the framework for his next project. Dale had a love for gardening and grew a huge garden every year for canning. Dale was a man of many talents and was a Mason like his father.
Dale had a love for hunting and fishing, especially at the family camp on Squapan. He looked forward to the annual two week hunting camp trip with his close friends and family. Dale was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a true patriot and loved his country.
Dale spent most of his career in building construction with Downeast Associates, MD Hardy, and Bowman Brothers, from which he retired in 2014.
He is survived by his brother Chris Rafford, nephew Brian Rafford, and niece Lauren Rafford whom he loved dearly.
There will be a celebration of life in coming months, to be announced at a later date.
