Dale Schroeder

Marshall Dale Schroeder, of Waupaca, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home. He was known by many for sharing the hope and joy of Jesus Christ through song, while others affectionately called him the "Computer Guy." His constant desire to spread the love of Christ touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact through his faith and kindness.
Born in Stevens Point on June 5, 1951, to Rev. Marshall and Della (Skaug) Schroeder, he was the youngest son of 4 boys. His independence and intelligence were strengths as he moved to Spencer Lake at the age of 14. At Waupaca High School Dale's musical skill flourished on cello and vocally under the legendary leadership of Gerry Knoepfel. At the same time, his love of the outdoors and sense of adventure never waned. Boating and waterskiing were favorite pastimes, earning him the nickname "Ski" and he had a lifelong interest in rockhounding.
It was at Spencer Lake Bible Camp that he first met Doris Nyheim, his wife-to-be and was called into ministry. Dale traveled with two vocal groups-the Hymntime Singers and the Jacobs Brothers Quartet-before marrying and moving to Springfield, MO, to attend Central Bible College where he received a BA in Sacred Music Performance. While still in college and for the next 20 years Dale's musical ministry took them all over the U.S. and around the world.
As his family grew, he leaned into another talent, starting a business as "The Computer Guy" in Waupaca. Those in the community would often catch him for a chat during frequent visits to Waupaca Woods Restaurant for breakfast. He participated in several community theater productions and passed on his love of music to his children, Laura and Craig. The camping adventures shared with his son created unforgettable memories. As they came into his life, the four grandchildren kept him young at heart and brought him abundant joy.
He will be missed by his wife: Doris; children: Laura (Tim) Michalski; and Craig (Suzy) Schroeder; grandchildren: Spencer and Lizzy Michalski; and Lyra and Juniper Schroeder; brothers: Gary (Jan) Schroeder and Alan (Vicki) Schroeder; sister-in-law: Diane Schroeder (Bobby Coble), other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Schroeder.
Visitation will be held at First Assembly in Waupaca on Saturday, October 19, from 9-11a.m. with a service beginning at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation can be made to Spencer Lake Christian Center.
Finally, the family asks that, in honor of Dale, you write your Congressman and ask for the repeal of Daylight Saving Time. Dale wanted everyone to get back on "the Lord's Time."
