Barbara Schroeder Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 20, 2025.
(nee Kielbasa) Born to Eternal Life on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Age 85 years. Beloved wife and best friend for 63 years of James Schroeder. Cherished mom of Linda (David) Kasun and Kurt (Tina) Schroeder. Adored grandma of Ryan (Erin) Kasun and Zachary Kasun; Sierra Schroeder and Dylan Schroeder. Dear great-grandma of Carter and Tanner. Dear sister of the late Robert (Kaye) Kielbasa and the late Christopher Kielbasa. Further survived by nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law other family members and friends.

Barbara was born and raised on the southside of Milwaukee. She was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. After school Barb worked as a cashier at the Sentry Foods store on Howell Ave. as well as Carvel Ice Cream Store across from Sentry. In 1959 Barb met the love of her life Jim. She loved Jim but also really liked his cars. Barb was blessed to stay home and raise her family. She was well loved by the neighbors and was a second mom to many of the kids in the neighborhood. As her kids grew older Barb reentered the workforce and was employed at Reiman Publications in Greendale. In retirement Barb and Jim enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.

Throughout her life Barb loved spending time with her family and especially loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, flower arranging, the Red Hat Society and picking Morel mushrooms at the family farm. The many years she worked in catering inspired her to be the perfect hostess. Her table was always set just right and her dinners were fondly remembered by all those who attended.

The family would to thank the staffs of Eden Vista and Vitas Hospice for the exceptional care they took of Barb during her stay with them and in her final days.

Memorial visitation Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 9-11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3100 W. Parnell Ave. Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Inurnment to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
