Dale Lee Stacy, age 89, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 3, 2024 at the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek. Dale was born to George and Eula (Whitlock) Stacy on August 16, 1934, in the village of Flemington, Missouri, located in northwestern Polk County. Dale graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1953. Dale was married for 28 years and had four children: Coleta, Randy, Becky, and Sherry.
Dale had a long and varied work history. For several years, he worked as a driver for Empire Gas. After that, he worked as a delivery driver for Superior Linen, where he retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Dale also liked to work on his farm and tend to his cows, pigs, and corn fields. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent countless hours fishing and hunting. Dale was a man of many hobbies and pastimes including square dancing, country and western dancing, and traveling. He also enjoyed playing Bingo, watching horse races, and going to casinos. While Dale had many pets over the years, was especially fond of his dog, Baxter. Dale will be remembered as a kind, hard-working, family man who loved his family unconditionally and beyond measure. He was a good man who made friends easily and never met a stranger. His greatest titles in life were always Dad and Poppie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eula Stacy; wife, Mary Stacy; and his brother, Harold Stacy. He is survived by his four children: Coleta, Randy, Becky, and Sherry; sister, Dixie Skopec; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Dale's family will host a visitation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. His funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 pm. Dale will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mary, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a formal procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.
