A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Dale E. Twing, age 85, of Sauk Rapids. Dale passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dale was born on July 20, 1939, in Hillsdale, Illinois, to the late LeRoy and Phyllis (Ashley) Twing. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he moved to Minneapolis and worked as a spray painter and finisher in manufacturing, applying the skills he had gained during his service.
He married Marlene Ubel on July 28, 1962, in St. Paul. In 1967, Dale began his 27-year career teaching Furniture Refinishing at the Minnesota Correctional Facility–St. Cloud, retiring in 1994.
Dale was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts, serving for many years as Scoutmaster for Sauk Rapids Troop #4. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at Spitzer Lake. After retirement, he and Marlene spent winters in South Texas and later in Arizona, where Dale continued his love of fishing in warmer weather.
He is survived by his children, Daniel (Dina) of Colorado and Julie (Greg) Winkelman of Otsego; four grandchildren, Robin Winkelman, Matthew Twing, Kyle Winkelman, and Michael Twing; and two great-grandsons, Laken and Orson Winkelman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene, in 2024; and his brothers, John, Ted, Terry, and Danny Twing.
